Based on 1,338 reviews

Taste of Dixie Diner consistently receives praise for its authentic Southern buffet offerings that appeal to a wide range of diners, including families with young children. Reviewers highlight the freshly made, flavorful dishes such as chili, peach cobbler, and classic diner staples like grilled cheese and Philly cheesesteak. The welcoming and accommodating service, often described as warm and friendly, enhances the overall dining experience. Cleanliness, including restroom conditions, is generally well-regarded, contradicting some initial concerns. The restaurant’s reasonable pricing and family-friendly atmosphere add to its appeal, making it a favored stop for travelers passing through the Cross City area. Overall, the diner is recognized for delivering satisfying, home-style meals in a comfortable setting.

Let me tell you about this place! I had read the reviews and was a bit skeptical, especially when I came across comments about the bathroom being dirty. However, I soon discovered that restaurants with less-than-perfect bathrooms often serve the best food! I did go in the bathroom to wash my hands, and it was very clean. Thank GodWhen I arrived, I was greeted by an older lady who was the sweetest person I encountered in the whole town. All the waitresses were very nice, warm, and welcoming as well! They had a buffet with some decent-looking food, but I decided to try the liver and onions—yes, I said liver and onions It was incredibly tender, and the homemade gravy was absolutely delicious. On the buffet that day, they also had fried chicken, and the young lady working there even let me sample a piece. It was so good that I had to take some home with me! I ended up getting fried chicken, black-eyed peas, and this cheesy dish that I initially thought was macaroni. It turned out to be little pieces of potatoes smothered in this gold cheese sauce, and it was amazing—I was really upset I didn’t get more of it!I can't wait to pass through this town again. Keep up the good work; it truly was a Southern home-cooked meal! Sorry I didn't take any pictures. I couldn't put my Fork down!!!!

We stopped here on a road trip down Highway 19 from Tallahassee to Weeki Wachi, and ended up loving it. We were actually surprised to find an old school southern buffet, and even more surprised at how delicious it was. I had salad, a great lunch plate, and dessert, and was so full and happy. Also, there are tons of options on the buffet for little ones. Three years old and under are free, so my 3yo was covered. I just happened to mention that my tiny 7yo would eat the same amount as the 3yo, and without even saying anything, our waitress let her eat for free as well!We would absolutely stop here again if we're ever in the area. I actually texted my dad while we were still there eating, with the pin on the map and a pic of the food, because he travels a lot for work and I knew he'd love to check it out!

Just stopped here traveling because we discovered they had chili. Found out they specialize in serving a buffet. We were able to get chili off of the buffet, and it was EXCELLENT! Also ordered a grilled cheese of the full menu they also have and it was very good! We WILL stop here every time we drive through the area!! Service help was also very accommadating!

Wonderful place to stop and eat. The food is really good and the service and atmosphere was just home like. If you are hungry and like non chain restaurants you will love this place. Too bad they aren’t in Ocala.

Hubs and I decided go for breakfast... They had a buffet that looked a little rough (but they were getting ready to switch from breakfast to lunch so I'm giving them a major pass)We ordered off the menu. My husband got over medium eggs that were perfect and I got a grilled chicken sandwich that was delicious. It is not a fancy place at all but to absolutely nail over medium eggs and for a grilled chicken sandwich to be that good.... We will definitely go back. Oh and the service was phenomenal. So friendly and sweet.

It's a Sunday just after church let out, and there's a buffet, or you can order off the menu. Even though it was busy, we got seated right away, and the waitress brought us our sweet tea quickly. We decided to eat off the menu simply because we really weren't hungry enough to do a buffet.I had the BLT with fries, and my wife had a full order of sausage gravy & biscuits with eggs over medium. The BLT had plenty of bacon, fresh, and crisp lettuce and juicy, flavorful tomato slice. Not normally and fan of crinkle cut fries, these were cooked to perfection - crisp but not too crisp. My wife is in love with the gravy here! Her eggs were perfect - runny yolks and firm whites. All over a bed of delicious biscuits.Excellent food & and service. The restaurant is full of people who are looking for good food and good company to share with. Always a good sign!
